Mark, Flemming and I enjoyed a morning shoot at this pristine location before a vigorous climb to a rock overhang containing some of the Kimberley’s most amazing Wandjina rock art. I first visited this magnificent place a few years ago and loved returning here once more.

Incredible detail in the rocks Dave. Magic place.
Certainly is a majestic wilderness, the strong foreground rocks would look great large I reckon !
Hi Andrew and Tony.
Thanks for the comments. You’re right there is a huge amount of detail. It’s about a 6 image focus stack. One of my favourite places!
Cheers
Dave
Nice shot David, wow look at the colour of the water. Gorgeous.
Hi Andrea.
The water there is the same colour as Broome’s. Nowhere else but the Kimberley eh?

Cool image from the stack master dude!
Glad to hear it mate as I almost wore the shutter out on that shoot eh?

A classic Dave shot, lovely soft and natural look and colours. It’s a good one Dave!
I wish someone had done a documentary shoot of us doing the climb. Now that would be living on the edge. I tell ya, the drama. The fun! There’s Mark in front as we go up, barefoot always, pushing through the bush as we’re almost out of time. Dave, sweating a liter a minute, carrying a large tripod in a bag making it look like he’s armed with a bazooka in his left hand. In his right hand, a Phase One in a heavy large grey flightcase (i still hear the sound of that thing scraping on rock). And me, attempting barefoot but having to put on my funky orange FiveFinger ‘shoes’, F-stop bag larger than my own skinny self, tripod head sticking up and constantly getting stuck on vines. We arrive, have 3 minutes to shoot and head straight back down, Dave now looking like he might explode. I’m in front, bad idea, as I daydream and straight away wander off the hard to see track. So we end up following a rocky stream straight down the mountainside, Stitchmaster Mark gets stung by a bee, finally we get to the bottom and a tender boat is waiting for us.
The things we do, living on the edge. Good thing True North, shower, coffee and cookies were waiting for us!
“A classic Dave shot”. I like it!
Mate that story is a documentary in itself! Especially when you consider Stitch Master’s comments at the end “I dunno if that was worth it fellas”. I thought it was worth it. Only got one shot of the art though.
It was indeed two weeks of contrast. Blood, sweat and tears but only a short tender ride to luxury on the water!
Have I mentioned how much I love this location?
Cheers

Haha, I forgot that comment. I will do a raft point post and include this story, too good a story. needs it’s own blog post
I remember getting back to TRue North after having been stuck on a creek for 4 hours, we were soaked, incredibly muddy after having fished walking in mud, and tired. 15 minutes and one hot shower in a 5 star room later and we’re ready for 5 star meal in the dinner lounge. Awesome!
Hi Dave, nice work mate, sure there are loads more to follow.
Hi Karl
Sure is mate. Steadily working through them. How’s things up your way?

Beautiful Dave, lovely location, nice even lighting.
G’day Thomas
Sure is a great spot mate. I really like the heavily overcast days you get during the wet season. The colours in the landscape just nice and clean and natural.

that’s beautiful Dave. what a spot, and then wonderfully composed. love the foreground and sweeping curve of the shoreline!
Cheers Stephen. This one’s a focus stack and has so much detail throughout. This one’s one of my faves.
